Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Good and Evil Wives: Berating a Child; Visiting a Temple

Comments - Interesting print from a series depicting examples of good and evil behavior for wives. To illustrate evil conduct at left, a mother berates her young daughter, striking her with a pipe as the child cries. To show good behavior at right, a mother takes her young son for a visit to a temple. A fascinating Meiji subject.
