Original Nobukazu (1874 - 1944) Japanese Woodblock Print
Asahina Saburo Yoshihide and Ashikaga Yoshiuji, 1902

Comments - Great image of the warrior Asahina Saburo Yoshihide chasing Ashikaga Yoshiuji on horseback. Yoshihide rides a dark gray horse, gripping an iron club in one hand and an armored shoulder plate that he has torn loose in the other, staring across the river at his foe. Yoshiuji turns in his saddle to look back at his pursuer as his horse gallops along, jumping across a narrow stream. A dramatic image, beautifully composed and detailed, with pine trees at right, and mountains along the horizon in the distance. The first time we've seen this bold design.

Artist - Nobukazu (1874 - 1944)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 28 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. Vertical folds between panels. A few tiny spots, a could creases at edges. Please see photos for details.
