Scene from Genji Moyo Furisode Hinagata, 1851

Comments - Handsome scene from the kabuki play "Genji Moyo Furisode Hinagata" of the beauty Tasogare smiling happily as her companion, Jiro no kimi, hands a folded piece of cloth decorated with fans to her. The nobleman frowns slightly, watching the beauty closely. She smiles delightedly as she carries a lamp in one hand. At left, Shinonome waits outside the doorway, a blue and white towel draped over one arm and a comb slipping loose from her hair. Flowering vines grow on a low bamboo trellis behind her. From left, the actors are Fujikawa Kayu III, Bando Shuka I, and Ichikawa Danjuro VIII. An attractive design with wonderful detail in the setting.
