Comments - Terrific view of courtesans of the Shinagawa-ya establishment in the Yoshiwara, out for a stroll in front of their modern stone building. Each wears an elegant kimono and obi and extremely tall wooden geta clogs. In the center, a beauty's red outer robe features a scene of cockfighting, with a white rooster versus one with colorful feathers. The courtesan beside her has a dragon on her kimono. At right, another woman wears a black obi with a dragon and swirling clouds, a young kamuro or child apprentice following behind her. Beauties and guests look down from the upper story, one man leaning over the balustrade at center right. A great image with wonderful color and detail in the clothing and architectural setting.
