Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of the lady-in-waiting Masao waving a small box above her head as she glareds angrily at the young beauty at left. She looks back at her calmly as she adjusts her hair, a fan in her other hand. In the center, a matron eyes Masao suspiciously, watching her out of the corners of her eyes. The scene takes place at a shrine, with the red building a right, a stone railing running across the background, and a lantern at left. A blossoming cherry tree frames the night sky above. Colorful figures in an attractive setting, nicely detailed with burnishing on the black kimono at right.
