Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Imperial Army Ceremony

Comments - Handsome illustration of the Meiji Emperor reviewing troops during a military ceremony. He sits astride a white horse at right, dressed in an elegant black uniform, followed by officers on horseback. The troops stand at attention with bayonets fixed along the edges of the parade ground. Near top center, the modern General Staff Office Building rises above the horizon. Nicely detailed, with burnishing on the black uniforms at right.
