The Funeral of Oda Nobunaga - Interesting scene from the funeral of the great Oda Nobunaga at Daitoku-ji Temple in Nara. During the ceremony, Toyotomi Hideyoshi proposed that Prince Samboshi, Nobunaga's young grandson, should succeed his father, bypassing Nobunaga's two sons. The daimyo Shibata Katsuie and the sons reacted angrily, here leaping to their feet to contest the succession. Draperies hang overhead and priests can be seen in the background at upper right. Nice expressive figures.
