Frowning Samurai, 1857

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of a samurai frowning as he looks over his shoulder, his brows slightly furrowed. He rests one hand atop the hilt of his sword, his striped kimono tucked up at the back for easier movement. Beyond the foliage behind him, a large wooden tub rests on a bench beneath the night sky. An expressive figure.
