Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Visitor at a Garden Gate, 1854

Comments - Handsome kabuki triptych of a visitor standing inside the gate of a courtyard garden, chatting with a couple. He wears a plaid vest over a bamboo patterned kimono, a wooden tub filled with colorful goods balanced upon his shoulder. The man looks up at him with interest from his seat on the edge of the verandah, one leg tucked up beside him. The beauty seems somewhat worried, her mouth slightly agape as she adjusts a hairpin. A blossoming cherry tree fills the background against a bright blue sky, and yellow flowers grow near a stone lantern. An interesting subject with an attractive setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 29 1/9" + margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Slight soiling and a couple creases at edges. Please see photos for details.
