Early Edo Woodblocks - Handsome design from a group of early Edo era woodblocks by 18th and 19th century master artists such as Hokusai, Eizan, Eisen, Toyokuni I, and others. Hokusai's Pictures of a Journey - Handsome design from "Hokusai's Pictures of a Journey" (Hokusai Dochu Gafu), a series depicting travel and life along the Tokaido Road. These marvelous scenes show travelers from both far away and up close, from tiny figures wandering through expansive landscapes to details of people stopping at the various sights and stations along the highway. Each print expresses his wonderful ability to capture human gestures and personalities, often with comic overtones. These attractive scenes are simply rendered in black and soft tones of gray and pink, accented with touches of light blue and green. Prints from this series offer a great opportunity to purchase an original Hokusai at an affordable price. The prints in this group come from a later edition.

Condition - This print with good color and detail as shown. Slight thinning on reverse at top edge from previous mounting, stitching holes at side, repaired. A couple creases at edges. Please see photos for details.
