Fuji through Smoke

Series; A Selection from One Hundred Views of Mt. Fuji

A Meiji Printing in Color - Hokusai’s original three volume set "One Hundred Views of Mt. Fuji" was particularly well received. The designs were especially beautiful and thoughtful with Mt. Fuji depicted as an ever present background to daily life in Japan. The series demonstrated Hokusai's incredible draftsmanship and compositional skill. During the Meiji period, a publisher released a reprint set of the series in slightly larger format and, more importantly, in color. The color plates brought the images to life and the sets quickly sold out.

A Rare Opportunity! - A low number of these sets were produced, and they are very difficult to find today. We purchased these from an American collector and this is the first time we’ve had a selection of these prints in five years. Don’t miss out, we don’t know when we’ll have them again.

Artist - Hokusai (1760 - 1849)

Image Size - 8" x 10 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight toning. A couple prints have a few small spots or creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Generally in nice condition overall.
