Bookplates by Motoi Yanagida - Charming design from a group of sosaku hanga bookplates or ex-libris (Latin for "from the library of") by Motoi Yanagida. Bookplates are pasted into the front of books to indicate ownership. These interesting small format prints feature a wide variety of subjects, including landscapes, figures, and animals. Motoi Yanagida is a member of the "Nippon Exlibris Association," which was founded in 1943. Several of Yanagida's works have been featured in the Association's newsletter. Each woodblock is signed and dated in pencil in the bottom margin. A fun and unusual collectible, rarely seen outside Japan.
