The Beauty of Nature - Interesting contemporary design from a series titled "The Beauty of Nature" (Kachofugetsu) featuring artwork by Tokuriki and calligraphy by Shimizu Kosho. Published by Shibunkaku Shuppan of Kyoto in Showa 58 (1983), the series was limited to an edition of 200. An unusual departure from Tokuriki's traditional views of Kyoto, these images are drawn with lively brushwork in a quick, gestural style, with the look of a painting. Each print comes loose in the original folder with a thin handmade paper overlay and a poem in Japanese inside the back of the folder. The prints in this group are number 156/200, although the number does not appear on the print or folder. See example of numbered publisher's seal below (not included). The first time we have seen this series.
