Silkworm Cultivation

Comments - Wonderful triptych showing beauties engaged in the process of raising silkworms. A right, two women use a feathers to gently brush the eggs onto a large sheet of paper. At far left, a woman kneels next to a cutting board set over a wooden tub, chopping mulberry leaves, which the beauty next to her scatters over a tray to feed the insects. On the verandah overlooking a lake, a beauty draws silk from boiling cocoons, winding the thread onto a spool. An alcove at right holds a scroll of a deity holding a mulberry branch, with offering trays below piled high with cocoons. A great look at the traditional practice of sericulture, with a handsome setting and attractive color.
