Original Nisaburo Ito (1910 - 1988) Japanese Woodblock Print
Sarusawa Pond

Nisaburo Ito - Born in Kyoto in 1910, shin-hanga artist Nisaburo Ito created many woodblock prints of flowers, landscapes, and noted shrines and temples around his hometown. Some of his designs reflect his study of nihonga or traditional Japanese painting, while others take on a more modern expression. His floral and nature subjects are beautifully rendered with wonderful color and attention to detail. His attractive prints are a lovely choice to collect or display.

Comments - Lovely view of Sarusawa Pond in Kyoto under a gentle rain, the raindrops rendered in embossed lines. The pagoda spire towers above the tall pines lining the shore, with shimmering reflections on the water below. A peaceful scene that would make a fine framed display. Published by Uchida on watermarked paper with publisher's seal within image at lower left and publisher information in lower right margin.
