Courtesan with Phoenix Kimono Kakemono

Comments - Dramatic kakemono or vertical diptych of a courtesan dressed in an elegant formal kimono, which features a striking phoenix with multicolored feathers on the sleeve. She walks along on high wooden geta clogs with three "teeth" instead of the usual two, identifying her as an oiran or high ranking courtesan. A classic beauty subject that would make an attractive display.
