The series includes some of Hokusai's greatest masterpieces. These fantastic images portray the strength and majesty of nature, leading the viewer to contemplate man's place in relation to the natural world. A truly magnificent series, Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji justly remains Hokusai's most famous and highly regarded work.

The Bay of Noboto in Shimosa Province - Handsome view of men and women gathering clams in Noboto Bay at low tide. Two men carry baskets filled with shellfish, while young children play on the beach at left, chasing each other beneath the small of the two torii gates. The gates add interest to the composition, the diagonal lines of the beams contrasting with the organic forms of the foliage along the shore at right. An interesting design, nicely shaded.
