Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of the beauty Sarashina dancing for a nobleman under a maple tree covered with autumn foliage. She tosses a folding fan in the air with one hand while she holds out another fan towards the nobleman. He looks up at her with a frown, a large red lacquer cup of sake in his hand. At left, the lady's maid Hasue frowns disapprovingly as she watches, her hands folded quietly in her lap. An inset framed with lavender clouds shows a deity of Mt. Togakushi. He has unusual curly reddish hair, and he shields his eyes with his hand, looking down with an enraged expression. He wears a thin gold crown with a jewel in front. Ichikawa Danjuro appears as Sarashina. An intriguing subject, wonderfully detailed, and designed to appear as an open scroll.
