Satsuma no kami Tadanori and Okabe Rokuyata, 1865 - Great image of Satsuma no kami Tadanori (Taira no Tadanori) and Okabe Rokuyata fighting near the water's edge. Rokuyata grabs Tadanori from behind, glaring fiercely around his back. Tadanori scowls angrily as he clutches at his attacker's arm over his shoulder, trying to free himself. Waves crash along the shore behind him as cherry blossom petals drift down through the night sky, a symbol of the fleeting quality of life. A rare, early Yoshitoshi warrior series, nicely detailed.
