View of Teppozu and Tsukiji, Tokyo, 1869 - Incredible panoramic view of Teppozu and Tsukiji in Tokyo, the site of the foreign settlement. The modern Tsukiji Hotel dominates the composition at top center above the busy streets. The hotel was built specifically in 1868 to house foreign visitors. At bottom center, workers unload barrels and bales from a ship, stacking them along the embankment. A British flag flies at left center. A terrific design with wonderful detail.
