Kataoka Ainosuke as Tegoshi no Kisegawa and Ichikawa Ichizo as Tenjiku Kanja Dainichimaru, 1857

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of a young couple under a cherry tree. At left, the beauty Tegoshi no Kisegawa, hides playfully behind her kimono sleeve as she teases her companion, pulling on the tie of his pants. The samurai Tenjiku Kanja Dainichimaru stares back at her unhappily with a tight-lipped expression. He wears a beautiful kimono patterned with morning glories, other blossoms, and grasses, tucked into black floral pants. Two yellow butterflies flutter across the clear blue sky, with pink and white cherry blossoms framing the view. From left, the actors are Kataoka Ainosuke and Ichikawa Ichizo. An attractive design with fine detail in the clothing and a nice spring setting.
