A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Scene from akagi Oriemon budo jitsu roku, 1848 - Handsome kabuki triptych depicting a scene from the play "Takagi Oriemon budo jitsu roku," which tells the story of the young samurai Takagi Oriemon, who founded his own school of martial arts. At right a beauty flirts with a young man, flinging her kimono sleeve across her face and smiling coyly at him. He seems distressed at her actions as he looks up from the lacquer stool he rests his elbows on. The samurai at left frowns at the behavior while the beauty in the center smiles as she watches the pair. From left, the actors are Nakamura Utaemon IV as Otaka Tonomo, Seki Kasuke IV as Taroukaja, Iwai Kumesaburo III as Innami Katsuma, Ichikawa Shirazou II, Onoe Kikujiro II as Tonomo Tsukasa, and Ichikawa Kuzo II as Niki Tamonnosuke. An attractive design with an interesting stage setting and expressive faces.
