Woman Climbing over a Fence, 1860

Comments - Intriguing kabuki scene of a samurai reading a letter by the light of a street lamp as a woman climbing down over a fence at right. He looks up at her with an angry grimace as she clings to a tie-dyed red sash draped over a pine branch, using a small fence panel as a ladder. She stares back at him with a worried expression, the edge of the blue cloth draped over her head caught between her teeth. An interesting design with expressive figures and a nicely detailed setting.
