Kameyama, 1847 - 1852 by Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Original Hiroshige (1797 - 1858) Japanese Woodblock Print
Kameyama, 1847 - 1852

Series; Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido (Reisho Tokaido)

The Reisho Tokaido - Completed between 1847 - 1852, Hiroshige's Reisho Tokaido is named for the reisho or formal style of writing used in the series title. It is also referred to as the Marusei Tokaido after the name of the publisher. Prints from the Reisho Tokaido are extremely rare as all the blocks from the set were destroyed by fire shortly after completion, so very few impressions were made. These handsome designs are nicely printed with crisp line work and fine bokashi shading. We rarely come across woodblocks from the Reisho series, so if this image appeals to you, bid now!
