Matron and Worried Man, 1857

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a couple in an interior. The man looks over his shoulder with a worried expression as he tugs on the collar of his black coat, a tobacco set in his hand. The matron grins happily as she waves her hand, unaware of her companion's discomfort. At left, small desks are stacked along the back of the room, and tie-dyed curtains hang in the doorway. Nice expressive figures in a handsomely detailed setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 9 7/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels, backed with paper. A couple small holes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases and marks. Please see photos for details.
