Comments - Fantastic depiction of the two great generals Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin at the Battle of Kawanakajima. In the center, Kenshin gallops into the enemy camp on a black horse, gripping his sword above his head with both hands as he aims at Shingen. Still sitting on his folding camp stool, Shingen thrusts out his iron battle fan to deflect the coming blow. Two of Shingen's retainers have been knocked to the ground, the samurai at left still holding his broken sword, his gun on the ground beneath him. The fight continues on the banks of the river at left, with clouds of smoke rising above the mountains. A lively image from this legendary event, nicely detailed with burnishing on the black horse.
