Comments - Interesting kabuki scene depicting a confrontation between two sumo wrestlers at a tea stand outside a shrine. In the center, Onigadake Doemon grimaces angrily as he looks up at the young Akitsushita Kuniemon at right, who flings out one hand at his side while holding a letter in the other. Doemon wears a striking kimono of large alternating blocks with demon's heads and circular bamboo motifs. Kuniemon's robe features large targets pieced by arrows. At left, the sumo referee Shokuro watches the men with a scowl as he clutches a black robe. A small doll rests on the bench behind him. A stone fence runs across the background, with the pillar of a torii gate at right. A handsome design with expressive figures.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three separate panels. A few wormholes, slight thinning at edge, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, staining. Please see photos for details.
