Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a couple relaxing in private quarters. At left, the woman peels a piece of fruit with a knife as she sits next to a lamp. She looks up at her companion with a defiant frown. The man grimaces back at her, holding a cup of sake in one hand and a fan in the other. Mosquito netting is hung at right, ready for when they retire. Nice expressive figures with fine line work in the netting, and metallic pigment that has oxidized to a dark tone on the fan.
