6 mm Watanabe Reprint - This beautiful woodblock was published by the Watanabe Company and bears the important Watanabe round 6 mm seal. These old Watanabe prints are some of the finest woodblock reprints ever done. Watanabe began using the 6 mm seal after World War II ended, and it was in use from 1946 to 1957. These terrific Watanabe reprints are a wonderful way to collect a masterwork from the Edo era at an affordable price.
Comments - Terrific design of Ebisu and Daikoku, two of the famous Seven Lucky Gods, smiling happily as they busy themselves counting money. Daikoku sits on the floor at right placing paper wrapped stacks of gold coins into a wooden chest. He leans back against his never-ending treasure sack, his magic mallet sticking out of the top. Ebisu's lucky red snapper rests in a basket behind him, and he cheerfully looks up from the money stacked atop a pile of open accounting books. A money tree sits on a huge pile of money atop chests between the pair. A delightful New Year image of these auspicious gods, with lively detail.
