The Kanadehon Chushingura: Acts 1, 2, 3, and 4, 1847 - Interesting print combining scenes from the first four acts of the "Kandadehon Chushingura" (The Storehouse of Loyal Retainers), the play about the 47 ronin. At top center in Act 1, Ladyo Kaoyo identifies a helmet at Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine, where Lord Moronao makes rude advances towards her. Just below in Act 2, Honzo cuts a pine branch to signify his agreement with Lord Wakasanosuke to punish Lord Moronao for his offensive behavior. At lower right, Act 3 depicts the quarrel at the Imperial Palace, while at lower left in Act 4, Oboshi Yuranosuke grips the dirk with which his master, Lord Hangan, has just committed suicide. Nicely detailed with the scenes cleverly fitted together.
