Souvenirs of Edo - Lovely woodblock print from Hiroshige's "Souvenirs of Edo" (Ehon Edo Miyage), an illustrated book of landscapes originally published in ten volumes from 1850 to 1867. These attractive designs feature beautiful and well-known scenes around the city of Edo, from cherry trees in bloom to pedestrians walking along a riverbank, capturing the highlights of the capital in all seasons. According to the preface of Volume 2, "If one has never seen Edo, to look at this book is sufficient: this is the best souvenir to take home or abroad." Finely detailed and softly colored, these delightful prints offer a nice opportunity to inexpensively purchase an original Hiroshige for your collection.
