Prince Genji in a Plum Garden in Spring, 1865

Comments - Handsome portrait of Prince Genji relaxing in a pavilion at a plum garden in spring. He rests one elbow along the railing as he looks up with a grin, an ornate pipe in his hand. Behind him at right, a waitress carries cups of tea on a tray, with the tea stand just beyond. Other visitors sit on a bench at left, one man writing a poem slip as he admires the blossoming trees. A charming design, nicely detailed.
