Onoe Baiko IV as Izumoya Okuni, 1851

Comments - Interesting portrait of Onoe Baiko IV as Izumoya Okuni in the kabuki play "Date Kurabe Uwasa no Saya-ate." The beauty lifts her lantern high with a dismayed expression, her mouth slightly agape as she holds up the red apron tied around her waist. The setting is the Yoshiwara, with a low bamboo fence enclosing a garden behind Okuni filled with blossoming shrubs, flowering cherry trees, and lanterns on poles. A nice expressive figure.

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Losses at edges, a few holes, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and rubbing. Please see photos for details.
