View of Ueno-Nakasendo Railway from Ueno Station, Tokyo, 1885

Comments - Terrific Meiji era scene of the Ueno-Nakasendo Railway with a train arriving at Ueno Station in Tokyo at left. People are gathered along the tracks, watching the modern trains with interest. The railway curves through mountains at right, with another train in the distance chugging through a panoramic view of the countryside. A great illustration showcasing the modernization of Japan during the Meiji era.
