The 47 Ronin, Act 12: Lord Hangan's Tomb - Moving illustration of the final act from the classic kabuki play "Kanadehon Chushingura," based on the famous tale of the 47 Ronin. Having avenged their master's death, the ronin returned to Sengakuji Temple to lay Moronao's head on Lord Hangan's tomb. Wrapped in cloth, the head is placed on an offering tray at the foot of the grave, while in the center, a samurai bows deeply behind a low red lacquer table. Still wearing their trademark black and white dogtooth bordered robes, the warriors sit solemnly during this sober ceremony. A handsome design, nicely composed.
