Series; Newly Selected Auspicious Birds and Flowers, 1880

Newly Selected Auspicious Birds and Flowers - Handsome print from Rinsai's series "Newly Selected Auspicious Birds and Flowers," published in 1880. Theses colorful designs feature birds and flowering plants and trees in their natural habitats. The landscape settings are nicely detailed, and most include a body of water, with a decorative linked border. We seldom see woodblocks from this Meiji series. A nice choice for a collector interested in kacho-e or birds and flowers prints.
