Original Yoshimori (1830 - 1884) Japanese Woodblock Print
Chinzei Hachiro Tametomo and Retainers at a Palace Gate

Comments - Terrific scene of samurai gathered at the entrance to a palace, the heavy wooden gate open as men stand in the doorway. At right, the warrior Chinzei Hachiro Tametomo (Minamoto no Tametomo) sits on a folding stool, a tasseled command baton in his hand, his robes patterned with the paulownia crest of the Minamoto family. An attendant behind him carries a tall standard with the same crest. A cluster of elaborate battle flags and standards can be seen at lower left. An interesting and unusual composition with wonderful detail in the armor and battle standards, and fine expressive faces.

Artist - Yoshimori (1830 - 1884)

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Horizontal centerfold. Glue residue at top edges from previous mounting.
