Kokiro Teahouse at Edomachi in the Shin Yoshiwara

Comments - Attractive scene of courtesans gathered on the upper story of the Kokiro Teahouse at Edomachi in the Shin Yoshiwara. The elegantly dressed beauties and their kamuro or child apprentices line the verandah railing covered with cloth in the foreground, chatting with each other and enjoying the view. Additional rooms can be seen behind the group, and ornate lanterns hang from the eaves overhead. Nice detail in the architectural setting, with burnishing on the black kimono.
