Customs and Manners of Women in Old Japan, 1892 - Charming scene of a group of elegantly dressed beauties enjoying some leisure time. A beauty at left retrieves a bundle of scrolls from an elegant lacquer stand, the young girl next to her carrying a stack of books. At right, a woman uses a slender pole to help hang a scroll with a painting on it, a lovely floral display on the floor in a vase atop a low red lacquer table nearby. Nicely detailed with burnishing on the black lacquer stand, and a delicate allover embossed cloth pattern on the background.
