Spring at Arashiyama, 1862 - Beautiful spring scene of two beauties enjoying an outing to view the cherry trees at Arashiyama in Kyoto. An elegant rug is spread under the trees, with a kneeling woman holding a telescope. A woman approaches at left carrying a mokkin, a Japanese xylophone, the instrument beautifully decorated with flowers. The hillside perch offers a lovely vista of the lake and mountains beyond, the trees covered with clouds of delicate blossoms. Nicely detailed.
