The Storehouse of Loyal Retainers - Handsome print from the kabuki play "The Storehouse of Loyal Retainers" (Kanadehon Chushingura). Each print depicts a scene from the famous tale of the 47 ronin, who avenged their master's death. Beginning with the helmet identification at Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine and culminating in the ronin laying Moronao's head at Lord Hangan's tomb, Toyokuni III illustrates the story with great drama and wonderfully detailed settings, each design framed by the ronin's traditional black and white dogtooth border. A great choice for a collector interested in this classic tale of honor and revenge.
