Western Flowers Series - Lovely design from Chigusa Soun's " Western Flowers Series" series, published by Maria Gabu of Kyoto. Rarely seen on the market, these painterly images reflect Soun's mastery of flowers and plants. Interestingly, there were not enough designs by Chigusa Soun to complete the series, so the publisher commissioned additional designs in Soun's style from Tsuchiya Rakuzan. The series was begun in the late 1920s, but images were printed up until 1940. We've seen these subjects offered elsewhere online for more than $300! A nice choice for display.

Artist - Tsuchiya Rakusan (1896 - 1976)

Image Size - 14 5/8" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight thinning on reverse at corners from previous mounting, small hole, repaired. Toning, a couple folds at corner, a few creases, surface scratch at upper right. Please see photos for details.
