Forty-eight Famous Views of Edo - Handsome landscape design from Hiroshige II's "Forty-Eight Famous Views of Edo." This handsome series was published from 1860 to 1861, quite early in Hiroshige II's career. These attractive scenes feature classic views of famous landmarks and beautiful scenery in and around Edo, in a variety of seasons. From temples surrounded by blossoming cherry trees to busy harbors or crowded streets, these charming images capture life in old Edo in wonderful detail.

Special detail - This print comes with a separate label from the Gallery Beniya in Tokyo (see below). An interesting provenance.

Artist - Hiroshige II (1826 - 1869)

Image Size - 8 7/8" x 6 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Paper remnants on reverse at top edge from previous mounting. Horizontal fold near top edge. Thinning spot at corner, repaired. Toning, a few creases, stain. Please see photos for details.
