Hiroshige (1797 - 1858) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Kazusa Kanoyama Torrizaki

Untitled series of views of Mt. Fuji

Hiroshige's Views of Mt. Fuji - Beautiful design from an untitled illustrated book of twenty views of Mt. Fuji by Hiroshige that was published in 1858. In the original preface to the series, Hiroshige stated that he wanted to eliminate unnecessary details so that the focus would be on the sacred mountain itself, rather than the people, customs, or plants and wildlife in the scene. Never originally released as single prints, this handsome reprint series provides these lovely designs in full oban format. Soft colors and sweeping views characterize these attractive images, rarely seen in reprint.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 9 3/4" x 13 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight toning, a couple spots, light tape residue at center of each edge, darkening at top edge. Please see photos for details.
