Commoners beneath a Willow Tree

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of two commoners beneath a willow tree at night. The fellow at right looks up with an evil sneer as he adjusts the dotted cloth draped over his head. His companion seems concerned, his brows slightly furrow. His hands are tucked into his boldly patterned blue kimono, the cloth over his head fastened under his nose. Willow branches frame the softly shaded evening sky above. Nice expressive figures.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 18 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels. Slight paper remnants on reverse at edges from previous mounting. Small loss and thinning at corners, repaired. Slight soiling, wrinkling at corners, a few creases, stain in margin. Please see photos for details.
