The Courtesan Kiyo, 1880

Series; Eastern Pictures of Heroic Women Compared

The Courtesan Kiyo, 1880 - Terrific portrait of the courtesan Kiyo kneeling beside a lamp. She looks over her shoulder with a haughty expression, her chin tilted up defiantly, her hands tucked inside the sleeves of her lavender kimono. Her red under robe is detailed with an intricate tie-dyed pattern, with an olive green dotted collar., tied with a blue tie-dyed obi. A wonderfully expressive figure with fine line work in the hair. This is a rarely seen Yoshitoshi beauty series, and the first time we've offered this design.
