Grand Festival at Nikko Shrine, 1897 - Terrific view of a festival procession winding its way through the torii gate of Nikko Shrine. Two priests lead the way, following by two lion dancers in colorful costumes and musicians playing flutes. The procession continues with samurai carrying bows and a group of warriors in full armor. Striped banners flutter above tall poles, and several ornate festival floats can be seen in the distance. Pine trees frame the scene and misty clouds drift across the landscape. Wonderful color and detail in this handsome triptych. A great Chikanobu design.
