Comments - Great portrait of the great warrior Kato Kiyomasa confronting a tiger in Korea. Kiyomasa was one of the three senior commanders during the Seven-Year War with Korea, and he had the opportunity to hunt tigers while there. He fearlessly thrusts his spear at the snarling animal's head as it glares up at him, baring its fangs. The tiger crouches low to the ground, waiting for the opportunity to spring, its sharp claws visible. Kiyomasa wears a robe emblazoned with his circular mon or family crest over a suit of armor, and a battle helmet topped with golden horns. His personal standard flutters in the breeze above his head. A fantastic image of this legendary warrior.
