Series; Six Jewel Rivers in Various Provinces, 1891 Memorial Edition

Ide Jewel River in Yamashiro Province - Lovely design from a handsome series depicting the famous Six Jewel Rivers, here the Ide Jewel River in Yamashiro Province. A nobleman riding a dappled horse crosses the river, accompanied by an older retainer carrying a standard wrapped in cloth and a young page bearing the nobleman's sword.. Yellow roses bloom along the banks of the water, with cherry trees blossoming on the hillsides beyond. The poem above by Toshinari reads, "We stop our horse and give him refreshing water from the Ide River, where yellow roses bloom." Includes delicate embossing on the retainer's white robe and the white cover of the standard. A beautiful 1891 Memorial Edition printing.
