A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Beauty with a Doll and a Cat Kakemono, circa early 1830s - Beautiful kakemono or vertical diptych of a young woman watching with amusement as a cat pounces on her flowing kimono sleeve. She looks down with a smile, shyly holding her kimono sleeve to her chin and cradling a baby doll in her arm. Her light gray kimono is patterned with butterflies, tied with a black obi featuring a red tie-dyed inset. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth knot, adorned with a floral comb, ribbons, and a hairpin with delicate flowers. A charming design with wonderful embossed detail on the cat's fur, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
